Alessandra Giura Longo and the poly-instrumentalist and sculptor Eduardo Sérgio have collaborated since 1997 in the creation and interpretation of performances of musical theater. In these spectacles, original compositions, improvisation and the interpretation of works by composers – both contemporary and otherwise, such as E. Satie, H. Pousseur, G.Aperghis, A. von Ramm, L. Berio etc. – intertwine around a theme, and the program is recreated each time, both musically and theatrically, in relationship to the performance space. During the creation and invention of a spectacle, the duo takes inspiration from the architecture, function, history and atmosphere of the performance space. The alchemistic combination of sounds, gestures, texts, and in some cases sculptures or other artistic objects, together with the space which contains and reveals them, creates and determines the form of the performance.

In 1996 Alessandra Giura Longo and Eduardo Sérgio, together with Ana Paula Andrade and João Luis Macedo, founded the "Rubbatto Mobile Ensemble", a group dedicated to musical improvisation that participated in 1997 in the “III Tournoi de Musique Improvisée” in Poitiers (France). This experience gave rise to the duo “Giro-Pirouette”, which participated at the same Tournoi in 2001 and produced the following spectacles:

- Girouette-Pirouette, created for an exhibition of artworks by Christine Choffey (Prague and Ponta Delgada, 1999);

- Mer glu lho, música para un aquário imaginário (for the aquarium of Manuela Braga, Ponta Delgada, 2000);

- A Ingenuidade no Elogio de  Almada Negreiros (conference-spectacle for the Università dos Açores, Ponta Delgada, 2001);

- Lactatio Mystica (in the abandoned cheese factory "Unileite", Ponta Delgada, 2001, with texts by Piero Camporesi);

- La Suggestion Post-Hipnotique et Vexations (Academy of Arts of Ponta Delgada, 2001) with A. Piccenna and J. L. Macedo;

- Concavo & Convesso (“Sassi” of Matera, 2001, with original texts by Raffaele Giura Longo);

- L’Arte della Menzogna Politica di  J. Swift (with G. La Maestra and A. Tripodo, for a demonstration protesting the planned construction of the bridge over the Strait of Messina, 2004);

- MurmúRio (with Alessandro Olla as artists in residence at the Oficinas do Convento, Montemor-O-Novo, Portugal, 2010).

In these performances, all the technical and expressive possibilities of the instruments (flutes, clarinets, hybrid trumpet, percussion, etc.), in addition to those of the body itself, are thoroughly explored and exploited. These elements are treated in both a musical and theatrical sense, at times with the aid of electronics.

Alessandra Giura Longo and Eduardo Sérgio have also collaborated in the field of pedagogy. They were simultaneously responsible for the artistic disciplines in the department of Science of Education at the University of the Azores in 2001.
